Sending Online Payments

Audience: Landlords, Property Managers, & Tenants

Through a 3rd party service called Rotessa, Housters offers the ability to send online payments for various payment flows. You can set up your Housters account to be able to send online payments for the following scenarios:

  • Tenants sending online rent and deposit payments to Landlords & Property Managers.
  • Property Manager sending online payments to Landlords.
  • Landlords sending online payments to Property Managers.
  • Landlords & Property Managers sending online payments to Vendors (aka Contractors).

To get set up for sending online payments, the person you want to send to first has to set up their account for Receiving Online Payments. For example, if you are a Tenant then your Landlord or Property Manager has to enable receiving online payments. Once they do, you can go to the Online Payment Settings screen and there will be an option for adding the bank account that you want to use to send from.

Note that payments sent through Rotessa are free for the sender.

Once you have added your bank account into Housters then your account is ready to be able to send online payments.

  • For Tenants, you can send online payments to your Landlord or Property Manager from the Pay Rent screen.
  • For Property Managers, you can send online payments to Landlord Subusers by going to the Landlords List and then clicking the Send Online Payment button next to a Landlord. Note that this button will only be available if the Landlord has set up their account to be able to receive online payments, and if you have added your bank account for this Landlord.
  • For Landlord Subusers, you can send online payments to your Property Manager by going to the Pay Property Manager screen.
  • For Landlords & Property Managers, you can send online payments to Vendors by going to the Vendors List and then clicking the Send Online Payment button next to a Vendor. Note that this button will only be available if the Vendor has set up their account to be able to receive online payments, and if you have added your bank account for this Vendor.

Note that online payments generally day 5-7 business days to settle.
